Day 101 April 11 1 Corinthians 16:13
1 Corinthians 16:13-14Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.I’ve been exhausted many times over the past few months. Sometimes I’ve been ill and recovering from the flu. I like to take walks for my exercise but I know have to cut them short when I just want to close my eyes while I walk.Paul isn’t talking about keeping my physical eyes open here. But it would be the same thing. It is dangerous to go for a walk with my eyes closed, just as it is dangerous to not be alert and to shut my spiritual eyes. I need to be focused, resolute and determined.Lord, help me to keep my eyes open today. I am tired of the push to get through this when this is my life. Forgive me for wanting to give up and run away. Forgive me for thinking, “that’s it, I’m giving up.”Help me to hold tight to the knowledge that you love me and you will keep me by your side. You will work these things out for the good of your kingdom. And I will stay with you.Help me to love you without stopping and help me to love those around me. I will stay on this path you have for me. I will keep moving forward. I will do the next thing.But God? Hold my hand tightly and don’t let go. Wrap me in your arms of love and comfort. Show me the peace that is yours. Point out the joys along the way. Keep my eyes on you.
