Finished! Well, almost…
It might seem a little late to do a New Year post but I’ve been a little busy. Last year was a busy year. My husband started a new job, we remodeled our house and sold it. We bought two new houses and divided up our home. Two of my children live in a condo down south with one cat. My husband and I live up north with my other child, her husband, and baby and the three other cats.
In one year I moved twice and became a grandma! I helped my kids move once and then the other kid moved in with me. I learned how to hold a baby again and, oh yeah, how to change a diaper. I found a new grocery store or two. I found a new dentist and doctor. And I have worked so many hours on packing, unpacking, and rearranging, especially my office. I spend hours thinking, what happened to this or that?
Can I finish?
This year has been slower. Until my nephew died and I flew to Illinois to help care for my dad and my mom while my brother and his family drove to Ohio to help my other brother’s family. While I was in Illinois I helped my brother and his wife find a place of care for my dad. Mom is over 86 now. And my dad is not always walking by himself, or getting out of bed by himself. He has dementia.
After I got back from my trip to Illinois, I came down with the flu. It kept me from doing as much as I wanted to do. I just wanted to sleep and decompress. My feelings were so bottled up inside of me. Finally I started to feel again. And began to make progress.
Now I can turn to the rest of the year to finish.
I want to finish:
- things this year.
- decorating the walls.
- my room.
- my novels and my editing class.
- my devotionals.
- my drawing classes and children’s books.
- my parenting books and learning activities.
I have so many things to finish it seems just impossible. But it isn’t. As long as I keep at it.
God isn’t finished with me!
Because God isn’t finished with me yet. He is teaching me things as I go. He teaches me to be still. He teaches me to listen to him. He teaches me of his love and patience, his kindness and joy. He is waiting for me to understand his great grace towards me. He is waiting for me to share his grace and mercy with others.
But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you.God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones. Isaiah 30:18 The Message
