Jesus, My Rabboni, My Teacher, My Friend

If God is omnipresent, then he can be with each of us at the same time. If God is a spirit and he lives with our spirits, then he is with us everyday, all day, all the time. In the morning as we wake, he is there. At night, as we sleep, he is there. In our car, as we travel from place to place, he is there. At work, he is with us. At school, he is with us. As we study, read, watch tv, he is with us.

Every moment of every day or night, he is with us, beside us, supporting us, listening to us. He is listening to every conversation, every thought, watching every action we make. He is there in every situation, offering comfort, guidance, knowledge, wisdom, help. And he is there, waiting, for us to turn to him in our need.

If he is there, and the scriptures say he is, then when I’m driving to work and I glance over, he is there beside me, waiting. For what? For me to talk to him. To let him into my life. He yearns for me to pay attention to him.

Not to judge me, not to condemn me, no, to love me. He might be disappointed in my choices, but he loves me and cares for me. He hurts for me, aches for me, for what he knows the consequences of my choices will be. He wants to hold me and help me. He is there for me. To talk with, to laugh with, to cry with, to rejoice with.

Psalm 139 1-6
God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there,
then up ahead and you’re there, too—
your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
I can’t take it all in!

John 15:9-10 “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love.
