Many times my grandmother would wake me up with the sounds of her piano. She played me her morning scripture song. The song is based on Psalm 92. I woke to rousing piano sounds reminding me that it is a good thing to give thanks to God. And to sing praises to his name.

So, for this thanksgiving season, I am thankful. I give thanks to God for my many blessings.

I thank God for my family. I thank God that my parents are still alive and that they pray for us, their children. I thank God that my husband’s parents are also still alive and that they pray for us too. I thank God for their continued health so that my children may enjoy their grandparents a little longer.

I thank God for my husband. He is a good provider and continues to be my best friend. I am thankful that you found him for me and led me to him all those years ago.

I thank God for my children. They continue to be a source of joy and wonder to me. I learn so much about myself and about God through them.

I thank God for my brothers and their families. I thank God for the Internet and how we continue to find new ways to communicate as the locations of the members of our different families stretch this entire continent.

I thank God for my work. I ask that God bless the company and their efforts so that I am blessed through them. I thank God for providing work for the men on the streets by my work so that they can provide for their families. I ask that God provide work for others who have need of it.

I thank God for my church family and my small group. It is always a joy to meet new people and deepen friendships with those who love God.

I thank God for the many opportunities to serve and the joy that comes from serving. I love that at our church we have so many different ways to share with others.

I thank God for his grace, his mercy and his love. I thank God for who he is.

Psalm 92:1-3 What a beautiful thing, God, to give thanks, to sing an anthem to you, the High God! To announce your love each daybreak, sing your faithful presence all through the night, Accompanied by dulcimer and harp, the full-bodied music of strings.

Psalm 147:1 Hallelujah! It’s a good thing to sing praise to our God; praise is beautiful, praise is fitting.

2-6 God’s the one who rebuilds Jerusalem, who regathers Israel’s scattered exiles. He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and assigns each a name. Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does. God puts the fallen on their feet again and pushes the wicked into the ditch.

7-11 Sing to God a thanksgiving hymn, play music on your instruments to God, Who fills the sky with clouds, preparing rain for the earth, then turning the mountains green with grass, feeding both cattle and crows. He’s not impressed with horsepower; the size of our muscles means little to him. Those who fear God get God’s attention; they can depend on his strength.
