1 John 2:13-17And a second reminder, dear children: You know the Father from personal experience. You veterans know the One who started it all; and you newcomers—such vitality and strength! God’s word is so steady in you. Your fellowship with God enables you to gain a victory over the Evil One.Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.Knowing God the Father is the basic requirement of being a Christian. He is the best thing there is in this world. So concentrate on knowing and loving the Father God.Lord, forgive me of my sins. Forgive me for looking at the world and loving the world’s goods. Help me not to love anything that will isolate me from you. Help me to do what you want.Make me strong today and help me to focus in on you. Make your word steady in me and send vitality into my bones. Let me stand up today and walk with your hand in mine.Fill me with your joy today, that quiet soft peaceful joy of your love.
