Genesis 15:1After all these things, this word of God came to Abram in a vision: “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I’m your shield. Your reward will be grand!”The King of Sodom and Abram had issues about what gifts of plunder Abram would keep. Abram didn’t want to keep the riches because he didn’t want the King of Sodom to say he made Abram rich. Abram wanted people to say that his God made him rich, not any man. Then God came to Abram with a vision telling him not to be afraid. This vision should have made Abram excited and reassured but Abram complained to God. He wanted to know what good God’s gifts were to him without having a child who would inherit his riches. He did not feel complete without his dream of having children.God then reassured him that his dream would come true. Some days I wonder if I am chasing the right dream. Am I working so hard to fulfill this dream and will it come true? Is this what God wants from me? Which way should I walk?Other days I just put one foot in front of the other and complete my duties and that crazy to-do list which keeps getting longer.Lord, today be my shield. Forgive me of my sins. Help me not to be afraid. Help me to walk in your ways. Help me to listen to your voice as I plan my day and write my to-do list. Fill me with your love and your vision for my life. Show me how much you love me and protect me from the world’s influences. You are my shield today. You are my refuge. You are the safe place in my world.
