When life’s troubles crowd around and you feel lost, disconnected, paralyzed with fear, there is only one place to go. You go back to the quiet place, you spend time with your bible and spend time listening to God. Sure you could pray, but it would just continue to be that same list you’ve been talking about for weeks. Or you may just be too frozen in panic to be able to verbalize how you feel.

It is time to surround yourselves with the promises of God’s leading, his refuge and his care of us. It is time to really listen. It is time to pause. Not so that you can feel more in control but so that you can let God take control.

You can think of all the other times God has taken you through a valley or a mountainous region or dark times, but you remember those times to give you faith and help you trust God this time.

Numbers 22:32 I have come here to block your way because you’re getting way ahead of yourself.

Sometimes I feel like God blocks my way so that I will have to stop and listen. Like Balaam I must wait on God for the words I need to say.

2 Corinthians 4:8 We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken.

Proverbs 19:21 We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails.

Isaiah 43:2 When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end – Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, and your Savior.

Ok God, I’m listening.
