Why this book means so much to me
I wrote this book after a prompting from God. I had a vision of myself and my family standing on a hill looking into a misty future. We had no idea where we were going, but the coming years would be challenging. We needed to be strong and courageous.
I started with Joshua 1:1-9 and I looked up in the Bible every instance of fear, despair, disappointment, strong, strength, courage, courageous, and more. Each verse provides encouragement to step into God’s plan and purpose every day.
At the end of 2016, I looked back at the previous three years. God walked us through sorrow, grief, changes in jobs and housing situations, and provided for each of us.
After most of a year, you have developed a habit
This book provides over six months of devotions showing God’s loving care. He gives peace and joy in the midst of sorrow and loss. God’s comfort surrounds our lives in ways we had not seen before. It takes over thirty days to create a habit. After six months, you will yearn to spend time with God.
Meditating on Scripture reduces fear
Personally, I need to be reminded of God’s promises every day. If I don’t have God’s word residing in me, I become fearful. I strive to be in control at all times. And when I am not in control – a passenger in a car – I cannot relax. Reading the scriptures every day and meditating on them builds resistance to fear and panic.
