Website design centers in what will make it easy for the user to find what they need. Fancy widgets and flashy graphics are awesome as long as they don’t detract from the main purpose: show the visitor what they want before they leave.
What are the basics of website design?
- Easy navigation – clearly visible, in the “usual places” at the top or on the side.
- Sidebar on the left – For most western visitors, we read left to right, making the side bar on the left the best place for interesting tidbits, like ads, categories, calendars, and more.
- Business stuff at the bottom – place another menu for the legal stuff like privacy policy near the bottom, above the footer. Use the footer for miscellaneous information the visitor might need.
