A few weeks ago I was faced with too many things to accomplish and too little time to do them. I do work to earn money but I also write to further my next career. I had to stop and look at everything I was doing. Am I staying focused?
Is it possible?
First, I had to stop clicking on all of the buttons for those free online classes, free eBooks, free tutorials, and not-so-free classes. I know what I’m doing. I have a plan. I need to finish my plan. Even if that next thing looks really really good, I avert my eyes and move on. Why?
Because learning and becoming an expert has become my way of procrastination. I’ve lost a month of time because I thought this course, that course, this other course, and this one over here, were the answer to all my time problems. But what I needed to do is start from where I am and finish.
The classes are good ones. And the courses are good too. The free templates and tutorials are great information. But I need to keep moving on my plan. I have four more months left this year and five books to complete to publication to meet my goal.
My advice is pray for your business. Lay out a plan. See if you need anything for that plan. Set a goal. Then do it. Don’t be led astray by the many get rich quick, work hard and then play hard courses. There are many of them. You decide on one and set a goal. Then finish.
The first and most important thing is to pray. We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails. Proverbs 19:21
