I am introducing A Whale of a Time
Not long ago, I reconnected with my cousin. She gave up waiting for me to email her and sent me an email.
In the exchange of life events and details, I mentioned publishing my children’s book series, Charlie Books. She then talked about the beginnings of a children’s book her sister-in-law, and she wrote. After thinking about it, she told me they would pull out the book again and polish it.
A few days later, I had the beginnings of A Whale of a Time. Next came the questions. What font? What size? And all the images, how’s this one? After a week of working on it, I had a draft for them to approve. Surprisingly, they had little they wanted to change.
The birth of a book
From there, we moved to the publishing part. Amazon recently added a hardcover edition, which they wanted. Unfortunately, Amazon wanted 76 pages for a minimum. I only had 54 pages. I scrambled to put together enough pages to fill the gap. We’ll see how that looks and decide from there.
A Cute story
The story is adorable. A young great grey whale swims south alone for the first time. He misses his parents and makes some friends. Growing up is hard, especially when you do something new. But you can make friends and help them somehow. Even a smile will help.
