A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my mom as we do every night before she goes to bed. As we discussed all the different things Charlie will do in the I Am A Picture Book series, I thought about a kitten experiencing Christmas for the first time. Now, I am introducing I Am A Christmas Cat.
I had finished I Am A Medieval Cat in time for Mom to buy it for some young great-grandchildren. But while I was laughing about my husband’s choice of costume (they had a party at work), I wondered what costume Charlie would wear.
I Am A Christmas Cat
It was only a step to Thanksgiving; pilgrims, indigenous people, and Christmas came next. Thinking realistically about my goals (What? No, really?), I decided I could finish a Christmas book before Thanksgiving so people could give it as a Christmas gift.
I wanted to continue to include a running commentary in the books for older readers. This book was filled with opportunities for mischief and wonder, and I giggled as I wrote those lines.
I love making plans
Speaking of goals and reality, I love making plans. Carrying out the tasks in the plans is always harder for me. I have a list of picture books to write, and it grows longer as time goes on. The same happens with my other series, The Adventures of Charlie and Ginger, Emily’s Cat Mysteries, Matthews’s Matchmakers, and Morro Bay Mysteries.
I hope you’ll give I Am A Christmas Cat a look. I wrote it as a book I would enjoy reading to my grandchildren.
