Psalm 27:1Light, space, zest— that’s God! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.I love that this verse mentions that God is zest. Some people see God as so righteous and just and far away. Some people see God as boring and judgmental, ready to pounce. But God is light, bright, searing, comforting. God is space, space to breathe, space to stretch out, space to live. God is zest, full of life, happy, sweet, loving.Lord, forgive me when I forget who you are. Forgive me when I forget who I am in you. You are so big, so holy, so enormous and spacious. You fill the world with light, knowledge, wisdom. You bring to life so many things, You bring rain and cause the green to explode on the earth. You bring light in the darkness of my soul. You bring peace to places of turmoil. With you on my side I can be fearless. I can be safe and unafraid. You bring light to my life. You bring space so I can breathe even in the midst of a crowded city. You bring zest into my life that safe, not dangerous.Take my hand and lead me through this day.
