Deuteronomy 1:29-33I tried to relieve your fears: “Don’t be terrified of them. God, your God, is leading the way; he’s fighting for you. You saw with your own eyes what he did for you in Egypt; you saw what he did in the wilderness, how God, your God, carried you as a father carries his child, carried you the whole way until you arrived here. But now that you’re here, you won’t trust God, your God—this same God who goes ahead of you in your travels to scout out a place to pitch camp, a fire by night and a cloud by day to show you the way to go.”Moses tried to calm the fears of the Israelites. They saw God fighting for them in Egypt. They saw his part the Red Sea and then destroy the Egyptians. They saw the pillar of fire at night and the cloud guide them during the day. They saw how God provided for them and yet they were still afraid to take the land that God had given them.God has given me his promises. He has given me his love. God has forgiven me of my sins and made me clean so that I can spend time with him. He talks to me. He walks with me through my life. He provides for me. He brings things that I need into my life. He takes care of me.And yet I am afraid. I am afraid to reach out and take what God has given me.Lord, thank you for your provision even when I am too afraid to trust you. Thank you for forgiving me of my sin today and every day. You make me clean again so that I can have fellowship with you. You are helping me move forward in my life even when I am too afraid. Make me bold in my heart. Give me courage and strength to step into your plans for my day. Show me which steps to take. Help me move forward into those steps.Lord you carry me as a father carries his child. You have taken care of me always. Help me to trust in you today and to not be afraid.
