Joel 2:21-24Fear not, Earth! Be glad and celebrate! God has done great things.Fear not, wild animals! The fields and meadows are greening up. The trees are bearing fruit again: a bumper crop of fig trees and vines!Children of Zion, celebrate! Be glad in your God. He’s giving you a teacher to train you how to live right—Teaching, like rain out of heaven, showers of words to refresh and nourish your soul, just as he used to do. And plenty of food for your body—silos full of grain, casks of wine and barrels of olive oil.The earth celebrates. The animals of the earth celebrate. The fields and trees celebrate. They celebrate God. That is why spring is such a joy to experience, even through the sneezing. It is a celebration of God and the newness of life.We celebrate God because he gave us his Spirit as our teacher. And he refreshes our souls like the spring refreshes the earth. He nourishes our souls just as food nourishes our bodies.Thank you, Lord, for your life-giving Spirit. Thank you for making the earth rejoice around us. We glory in the beauty that is this world you created. The earth does not fear because you do great things. The animals do not fear because of your gentleness and grace. The plants and trees thrive under your care just as I do.You are my teacher, Lord. Your Spirit teaches me how to live right. He trains me how to act. His teaching is like rain that refreshes and nourishes my soul. Your words are showers on my heart and sink in to my soul. And you provide enough food for my body and it provides nourishment for me.
