Here are some statements and scriptures from Captivity and my thoughts. Still on Chapters 2 and 3God wants to be loved by us. God yearns for a relationship with us. He is God and yet he wants us to pursue him and to love him. He has a vast desire and capacity for intimate relationships. He longs to be loved by us. We see him as strong and powerful, but not as needing us, vulnerable to us, yearning to be desired. As much as we desire someone to pursue us, God pursues us. He chases after us. He seeks after us and helps us along. He gives us the strength to move toward him. He helps us to believe in him and to trust in him. He is there for us.God also wants us to pursue him. He wants us to pursue him as actively as he pursues us. His love for us is great. Can we not turn a little more to him?God wants to be loved. He wants to be a priority to someone. He says, “Why won’t you choose me?” He says, “Look for me, pursue me, I want you to pursue me.”The most important person in the Universe wants us to love him. The most important person of all time ever, even in the future, He wants us to pursue him. He needs us. He wants us. Can we ever say that we are not wanted? That we are not loved? He is God, our God, and he loves us.Tozer says in his book The Pursuit of God, “God waits to be wanted. Too bad that with many of us He waits so long, so very long, in vain.”Jeremiah 24:7 I will give them a desire to know me and to be my people. They will want me to be their God, and they will turn back to me with all their heart.Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me!Mark 12:29-30 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. 30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.Mary chose what is better. She chose Jesus. Luke 10:42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”God yearns to share a life of beauty, intimacy and adventure with us.Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”You fill my heart by Jason Walker
