Deuteronomy 31:6“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”This is the hard one. For years I studied this verse and verses close to this one. “Be strong.” “Take courage.” My young small group girls knew I needed to be braver. My children knew I needed to be stronger. I felt that I needed more courage. But I wasn’t sure how to get there. Then I realized it is right in the verse. God is striding ahead of me. God is right next to me. God is in charge of the situation, not me.So I sit down. In my heart I stop and sit down. I am not in charge, God is. I am not responsible for how things turn out, God is. I need to let go.Dear Lord, please forgive me for trying to stay in control of everything. That is not why you made me. You made me to love you and glory in your presence. You made me to relax in your peace and your joy.Help me today to let go. I will be strong by letting you be in charge. I will take courage because I know you are beside me. My pen is poised. Help me write my to-do list. What is it that you want me to do today?I will not be intimidated by the things you suggest to me. I know that you are striding ahead of me to prepare my way. You are right beside me holding my hand and helping me through the hurdles. You won’t let me down. And most important, you will never leave me. Thank you.
