Deuteronomy 31:7-8Then Moses summoned Joshua. He said to him with all Israel watching, “Be strong. Take courage. You will enter the land with this people, this land that God promised their ancestors that he’d give them. You will make them the proud possessors of it. God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t worry.”Joshua was up in front with everyone watching him. There he was with Moses. Over a million people listened to Moses tell Joshua to be strong and take courage. That sounds amazing except I would rather not be in front of all of those people! I like the back of the room just fine.God wants to help me by making me accountable. So I am sharing this devotion with as many people who will read it. He told me to share this devotion “online” so that is what I am doing. He has asked me to be strong. He has asked me to take courage. But I know that I can only be strong and have courage through the strength that God gives me.But I will know God is walking ahead of me clearing the way. God will never leave me.Lord, forgive me for trying to do this on my own. I need you and I need your people around me. Only through your strength will I be able to accomplish the plans you have for me. I need to remember to do things in your time, in your way, and in your strength and power.Today I will be strong in your strength. Because you fill me with your faith I will trust in you and have courage. I will move forward in the plans you have for me this year. I will be the proud possessor of it. I won’t be proud in myself but I will be proud of what you have done.Help me to see you striding ahead of me. Your strength and might overwhelm me. You can do anything. Let me walk alongside of you today while you get things done.Thank you for being right here with me. You won’t let me down. You won’t leave me. Help me to not be intimidated but to shine with your gentleness and love. Help me not to worry but keep your joy before me during this day.
