Psalm 18:1-2I love you, God— you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. My God—the high crag where I run for dear life, hiding behind the boulders, safe in the granite hideout.David wrote this after he was saved from Saul and all his enemies. He was running and hiding in the hills. He was literally hiding behind boulders. When my life is hard or I am not feeling well, I just want to be home on the couch. But when I am coming home from North Hollywood, stuck in traffic on the 101, I really just want to be home.It is times like that, when I just want to cry or when I close my eyes and rest that I run to God for dear life. He is my bedrock. He is the castle in which I live. He is my rescuing knight. He is the high crag, the steep rugged mass of rock projecting upward, where I can stand. He is my granite hideout.Lord, I love you. You are my hiding place. You are the place I run to. You are my refuge. You hold me in your hand and your arms surround me with love.Forgive me for not trusting in you. Fill my heart with your joy and peace today. Help me to be brave. Give me the strength I need to make it through this day.
