God says, “Wait with Me.” I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mouth. I want to charge ahead, accomplish all my goals, and move ahead at full steam. But God says to my heart, “Wait with Me.” And I feel like my grandson, impatient to run free, compelled to stand with God. Until I realize, God is Beside Me as I Wait with Him!
My dear friends, God is coming unexpectedly. No one will know beforehand. When He comes this earth will melt away. Knowing this is coming soon, think about what sort of people you ought to be. Think of how you can live faithful and godly lives as you wait for His coming.
What is it that God desires of us? Look to the poor and needy. Welcome the strangers and the homeless. Feed them and clothe them. Show them God’s merciful love and kindness. Deal justly without anger. Spread peace for all men and be patient in your waiting.
God is Beside Me as I Wait with Him!
How can we hasten the coming of God’s day? His coming is closer as we spread the Good News of Christ Jesus to all the world. We pray for His coming. Pray for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Come, Lord Jesus.
We look toward a new heaven and a new earth where justice reigns. Where no man can impose his version of God’s justice on any other man. This new world where lying is as big a sin as sexual sin. Where anger is as hated as murder. And where love provides the grace and mercy needed to come close to God.
While we wait for His coming, let’s work hard to live in peace with all men. We see each man, woman, and child as precious as they are in God’s sight. And we offer the gift mercy and grace to those in need. God’s patience is our salvation.
So now, join with me in keeping up our guard. Let us not listen to people who spread fear and hate. We turn away from them and seek God’s face and truth. All people are His children and should not be turned away. Let us grow in God’s grace and in the true knowledge of Christ Jesus.
But how can we wait? We wait with God.
Because. God. Is. Beside. Us. As. We. Wait.
We stand beside God as we wait. His love helps us to be firm in our ways. We pray with His Spirit. The Lord helps us to construct our lives within His guidelines. He leads us to eternal life through the mercy of our Lord Jesus. Help us, Lord, to pray with You and wait in Your presence. Keep us safe and prepared to avoid our own trials.
And even though we might not feel as though God hears us or understands us, He is beside us right now. We put our hope in Him.
Pray with Me
Lord, knowing all of this, we ask for Your great covering of protection for our families and our loved ones. Protect us and prepare for Your coming.
We see the misunderstandings and the hate filling our world. Help us to pray for peace in Jerusalem which will only happen when you sit on the throne. We pray for all to hear Your message of Good News. Our hearts cry out against the oppression and sorrow in this world. The unrest and chaos combined with flooding, fires, and disasters of every kind fill our hearts with fear.
But You are beside us as we wait with You. We work step by step through the purpose You have for us.
Even so, Lord Jesus, come.
Jude 20-21 You, however, should stand firm in the love of God, constructing a life within the holy faith, praying the Spirit’s prayer, as you wait eagerly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus the Anointed, which leads to eternal life.
Mark 14:36-38 Jesus: Abba, Father, I know that anything is possible for You. Please take this cup away so I don’t have to drink from it. But whatever happens, let Your will be done—not Mine.
He got up, went back to the three, and found them sleeping.
Jesus (waking Peter): Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you wait with Me for just an hour? Stay awake, and pray that you aren’t led into a trial of your own. It’s true—even when the spirit is willing, the body can betray it.
Isaiah 8:17 As for me, I will wait for the Eternal, even though He feels absent, even though He has hidden His face from the family of Jacob. I will put all hope in Him.
2 Peter 3:11-13 Knowing that one day all this will come to pass, think what sort of people you ought to be—how you should be living faithful and godly lives, waiting hopefully for and hastening the coming of God’s day when the heavens will vanish in flames and the elements melt away with intense heat. What will happen next, and what we hope for, is what God promised: a new heaven and a new earth where justice reigns.
