Thinking back over the years, reviewing my mistakes and errors, and how I wandered from God’s path, my heart hurts. Maybe you are walking in a season of life that seems unending, and financial difficulties, homelessness, abuse, or helplessness invade your days.
Just thinking about these things causes me to crumple. I sink down in my soul. But, a thought appears like a tiny flame in a vast cavern. That thought is God.
I remember who God is and how powerful He is. Hope peeks its head up from the depths of despair, its eyes wide and glistening. My mind keeps returning to this one thing. Just a hint of the memories of Him fills me, and I wait expectantly to know more.
These thoughts come to mind
- Inexhaustible compassion
- Enduring love
- Loyal love
- Faithful love
- Unending mercy
- Unceasing mercy
- Unfailing compassion
- Tender compassion
- Unlimited compassion
These thoughts run through my mind, building hope inside me. Even though the storm still rages around me, or my situation has not changed, I can see the love in the eyes of my God and Savior. It is because of His mercies that we are not consumed.
Every day more things happen that make me sad. I fall asleep praying to God for mercy, safety, and peace for my family and me. And every morning, God’s great faithfulness is new. Fresh to meet the day are his mercies. His loving kindness does not fail us. Great and abundant are His stability and steadfastness.
Because of who Jesus is and what He has done for me, I share His righteousness. My lot in life is to be cared for by the God Eternal. I will have courage and wait expectantly for God’s provision.
My heart hurts, but, God’s faithfulness meets me
The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God’s word].
Lamentations 3:25 (Amplified Original)
This is who I am in Christ. This is who you are in Christ. Hope in God and expect His answer. He delights in us. We ask of Him, and He answers us on the authority of His word and promises.
The world throws things at us, but, God, He is there waiting and willing to help us.
19 Grievous thoughts of affliction and wandering plagued my mind – great bitterness and gall.
20 Grieving, my soul thinks back; these thoughts cripple, and I sink down.
21 Gaining hope, I remember and wait for this thought:
22 How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion.
23 Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day.
24 Have courage, for the Eternal is all that I will need. My soul boasts, “Hope in God; just wait.”
25 It is good. The Eternal One is good to those who expect Him, to those who seek Him wholeheartedly.
26 It is good to wait quietly for the Eternal to make things right again.
