Matthew 11:28-30“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”Lord, I am weary of this life in this body. I am worn out worrying about all the things that need to be done and the money that is needed for them. I am burned out on the posturing of people who are filled with impatience and anger. I am burned out from the injustice that surrounds the people around me.Take me away, Lord. Fill me with your love and your life-giving peace. Help me to recover my life, a real life. Show me how to take a real rest.Walk with me and work with me. Show me how to do it. Help me to learn the rhythms of your grace and your mercy. Help me to learn your compassion and your gentleness. Help me to be kind even in the face of harsh words and actions.Stay close to me and help me bear the burdens in my life. Keep company with me today. Help me to learn to live my life freely. Help me feel your joy and serenity to the depths of my soul.
